Cox Ideabar was started by ‘three girls in a garage,’ sort of.
The year was 2010. The garage was the windowless office of a legacy media publication in sunny Florida. The first “girl” was a young woman who started her career in a Cox newsroom in 1999 and by then was a young mother trying to tell stories that matter in a challenging economy. A journalist-turned-marketer-turned-intrapreneur, she gathered storytellers who share an indie, idea-generating spirit, and disrupted from the inside out in tenacious pursuit of new ways to tell stories that matter. What started as a marketing consultancy to help small business newspaper advertisers tell better stories to help fund local journalism, grew into a profitable national marketing +media agency that developed a good habit of giving away marketing services to organizations on environmental missions. Today, our storytellers are Cox brand, creative, marketing, and media professionals who change minds and move markets for brands we believe in – primarily the Cox Enterprises family of brands and a few select partners. Our shop has windows now and we view the Cox mission — to make the world a better place for the next generation — through the lens of creativity.
